![]() On the plus side, there are no traps, blockages, or Night-Time Ambushes - meaning that you don't need to waste funds and camping Respite on shovels, keys and skills that Scout or negate ambushes. ![]() Additionally, the rules for reinforcements are always in effect, even if you have them turned off. Hallways also come in different sizes and shapes, from long and straight to short and twisted. Scouting doesn't work as usual, either: you don't get to see where the fights are. You can't see the entire map as usual rooms will be scouted as you move forward. Unlike the usual random dungeons, the Dungeon Map layout and all fights in the Darkest Dungeon are scripted. All these penalties mean that, regardless of difficulty every Hero will most likely go on a mission only once, so choose your composition wisely. On Radiant difficulty, Heroes can be reused for subsequent expeditions into the Darkest Dungeon, but at a very high cost - they will immediately enter with 80 Stress, and their Virtue chance will be reduced to the bare minimum of 1%. Additionally, Marked Heroes will not occupy a slot in the roster, meaning you can recruit 4 more without dismissing anyone or having anyone die. However, even though they cannot be used in the Darkest Dungeon again, they can still be a major asset to you: it's still possible to send them on other quests, and they grant additional resolve XP to all other party members from then on. Such Heroes are marked by a torch in a Hero roster and candles on their stat page. You should also be aware that you cannot retreat at all during the game's final quest.Ĭharacters who successfully complete a quest in the Darkest Dungeon will - on Darkest / Stygian difficulty - refuse to go back ever again. If you must flee, unequip all Trinkets before abandoning the quest to avoid losing them. However, if there is only 1 party member left, they will escape safely. ![]() You can't easily retreat from the Darkest Dungeon, either, should things go south: when you retreat, a random party member will die (representing them holding off the monsters to buy their comrades time to escape). Almost every attack will induce stress, every blight and bleed deals high damage, and every encounter has a good chance to be the last. ![]() First and foremost - the Darkest Dungeon is nothing like the challenges you’ve faced before. ![]()

![]() ![]() Any gear they have is automatically returned to your storage. Drag a Dweller to the Wasteland and on the equip screen there is a new button (the red Vault gear) that allows you to kick them out. The new update also brings the ability to evict a Dweller. I don’t know if my Dweller still got his bonus even though Azor ran away, but I think I’m going to give him to one of my explorers instead to see if I can beat my longest time in the Wasteland record (3 days 2 hours 21 minutes). Unfortunately, it seems that pets follow the pregnant Dweller and child philosophy of running when enemies show up. I assigned him to Scribe Rothchild at my vault entrance to help deal with pesky Deathclaws. My Rottweiler, Azor, gives a +66% Health bonus. Each pet gives a boost to its assigned Dweller. Any Dweller can be equipped with a pet just like equipping a weapon or outfit. ![]() When you first log in from installing the update, you’re treated to your first pet for free. Unlike previous holiday updates, this update also brings several major changes–Dweller eviction, bulk item selling, and pets! I have yet to find any new themed equipment, but I’m expecting to find a Santa suit or an elf outfit in the Wasteland somewhere. ![]() Cafeterias and Barracks have animated Christmas decoration and Christmas music plays in the background. Previous holiday themed updates (Halloween and Christmas) brought decorations, music, and a couple of themed outfits, and this update is no different. Fallout Shelter has just released their latest update which not only includes a Christmas theme, but some significant changes in gameplay as well. ![]() |
